Problem
Due to the specific requirements of the gripper head including lifting elements, the machine manufacturer decided to use
drylin W linear bearings (WS-10-80), which are especially characterised by their combination of high rigidity and low weight. By using the
drylin W profile rails and at the same time
drylin W hybrid bearings the friction forces of the individual gripping segments can be reduced even without the use of a lubricant.
With the help of the exact weight specifications of the individual components and the provision of CAD data, the customer was able to simulate the target weight as early as the design phase. The purchased parts could be perfectly implemented and integrated into the overall solution, which resulted in a good interplay between function, design and lightweight construction. With this new multiple gripper head, it was finally possible for the end customer to operate the existing line at the same cycle rate, despite the increased product weight. This avoided a cost-intensive modification of the plant (larger robot, etc.).
